Partner/Manager
After working side by side for years, brothers Richard and Glenn
Keefer realized their dream of owning a restaurant together
when they opened Keefer's in November 2001.
An extensive background in finance and numerous years spent
in the restaurant industry make Richard a knowledgeable manager
and business partner. The brothers work well as a team, sharing
a majority of the restaurant's responsibilities equally.
Richard got his first taste of the restaurant business working
as a bartender and cook to pay for his college education. After
graduating with a bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance
from Cortland State University in Cortland, N.Y., in 1988,
Richard moved to Chicago and worked for two years as a broker's
assistant for PaineWebber. In 1991 he joined Griffin Trading
Co., where he ultimately served as director of floor operations.
In this position he was responsible for the firm's trading
activities on three floors, the Chicago Board of Trade, the
Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the London International Financial
Future's Exchange. He stayed with the company until 1999.
While working in the world of finance, Richard assisted Glenn
part-time from 1990 to 1999 at two Chicago dining favorites,
The Palm and Ruth's Chris Steak House. It was during this time
that the two began fashioning their own restaurant concept.
Richard is an avid sports fan and a former All-American Division
III quarterback.
